Hottest Producers In Nigeria 2014

Courtesy NotJustOk

10. WizzyPro

In the last 12-18 months, WizzyPro has gone from being a “resident producer” for Timaya‘s defunct group, Dem Mama Soldiers, to being the hitmaker behind massive songs like “Emergency” (featuring Skales, Patoranking, Runtown), “Girlie O” by Patoranking, and “O Set” by Phyno and P-Square.

9. D’Tunes

D’Tunes was the undisputed #1 producer for 2012/2013, carting away several awards during that time-frame, and also topping The 10 Hottest Producers in Nigeria List. However, he has quite hit those dizzy heights this year. That said, he produced one of the best Nigerian albums released in 2014: Sean Tizzle’s “The Journey”. Dope tracks in it from start to finish. D’tunes remains an Ace producer.
(Happy Birthday, bro!!!)

8. Major Bangz

The name “Major Bangz” started floating within the NJO radar as far back as 2012 with productions for up & coming acts like Tai Koon, Chandon Lucas and Sammie Gravano. However, folks didn’t fully begin to pay attention till iLLBLiSS dropped the Major Bangz produced track “Powerful” featuring Chidinma back in September 2013. That was only the beginning. He went on to produce SEVEN (7) songs on Phyno‘s critically-acclaimed debut album “No Guts No Glory (N.G.N.G)” including arguably the hardest indigenous hip-hop track this year, Alobam.
The icing on the cake for Major Bangz in 2014 is, without doubt the rave song and dance of the moment, SHOKI by YBNL’s Lil Kesh and the remix featuring Davido and Olamide

7. Selebobo
Selebobo almost single-handedly took Yemi Alade from an up & coming artiste to The 10 hottest artists in Nigeria by fine-tuning her sound and delivering her career-defining hit single “Johnny” as well as the fan favourite, Tangerine. In addition to that, the TripleMG in-house producer laced several popular songs for A-lister Iyanya (Mr Oreo), EmmaNyra’s “Elele” (featuring Davido) and many other songs on the TripleMG “Evolution” album. Let’s not forget he’s the genius behind the production and lyrics to Flavour’s “Ada Ada” which is still getting loads of spins particularly at weddings.

6. Pheelz

When you hear the name, Pheelz, one name automatically comes to mind: Olamide! He produced all but one track on Olamide’s most recent album, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth” which includes smash hits like Turn Up, Durosoke, Eleda Mi, Anifowose, and more recently, songs like DJ Xclusive’s “Ibebe” (featuring Olamide), and “Awon Goons Mi” by Olamide.
Most of Pheelz‘s hit production credits are connected to Olamide, but who cares? As long as he keeps bringing the heat, we’ll continue dancing. Long may it continue. Big-Ups to Pheelz as he moves from #9 in 2013 to #6 on The 10 Hottest Producers In Nigeria 2014 list.

5. Del’B

Another talented producer whose stock has risen remarkably over the last 12 months is Del’B. He’s successfully shown he’s no flash in the pan by continuously dishing out his singles for some of the celebrated names in the industry. Hit production credits in the past 12-15 months include Wizkid’s “On Top Your Matter”, HarrySong’s “Beta Pikin”, Kcee’s “Pull Over” as well as majority of songs on Kcee’s debut album “Take Over”.
This consistent delivery of hit singles justifies Del’B‘s rise to the #5 spot from last year’s 9th placement on The 10 Hottest Producers In Nigeria list.

4. Tspize

The name Tspize literally sprung outta nowhere in the first quarter of 2014, thanks to monster hit singles “Aye” by the Hottest Artist in Nigeria right now, Davido, and “Gallardo” by next-rated act Runtown and Davido. Tspize went ahead to seal his place among the hottest names in the game by cooking up yet another hit single “Sekem”; this time for comedian-turned-artiste, Nek-Unek hitmaker, MC Galaxy.
With arguably the biggest song of 2014 “Aye” under his belt, you could hardly have a better breakthrough year than 4th place on the list of The 10 Hottest Producers In Nigeria.

3. Legendury Beatz

The Legendury Beatz duo, Mutay and Zei, have become certified hitmakers over the course of the last 2 years. All you have to do is peep their MyNotJustOk or Soundcloud pages to see hits upon hits. In the last 12-15 months alone, the Starboy in-house producers have created hits like Caro and Ginger for L.A.X (and Wizkid ofcourse), Eledumare, and one of the early fan picks from Wizkid‘s recently released “Ayo” album, “Ojuelegba“.
Consistency is key to longevity, and if Legendury Beatz can keep their high production standards up, they’ll keep rising up the charts like they’ve done from 6th position last year to #3 on The 10 Hottest Producers In Nigeria.

2. Shizzi

If you ask Davido who he attributes his success so far in his career to, one name is sure to be on his lips: SHIZZI ! You can’t think Davido without thinking Shizzi, and vice versa, thanks to hit songs like Gobe (2012) and Skelewu, which rocked the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2013.
In the last 12 months, Shizzi has spread his wings a bit wider by masterminding hit songs like Wizkid’s “Show You The Money“, MC Galaxy’s “Nek-Unek” and Reminisce’s “Daddy Mi“. Let’s not forget Shizzi also produced Wande Coal’s controversial single “Baby Face“.
Shizzi‘s hitmaker status cannot be questioned by anyone who knows anything about Nigerian music. Congratulations to the HKN/TeamTalkLess producer for climbing up the ladder from #5 on the 2013 Hottest Producers In Nigeria list to #2 for the year 2014. Deserved leap!

1. Don Jazzy

It’s safe to say Don Jazzy has been the best Nigerian (and AFRICAN) producer in the last decade. His dominance took a slight dip after the Mohits dynasty split in 2012. As the smart and calculated guy that he is, Jazzy decided to step back for a bit, regroup with a fresh team, and then have another crack at the Nigerian music scene with renewed vigor. This well-planned move began to bear fruits in 2013, as it laid the foundation for hit singles like Tiwa Savage’s “Eminado“, Dr SID’s “Surulere“, and one of the biggest singles of the year 2014, “Dorobucci“.
In less than 2 years, Don Jazzy (the CEO) has built a new record label – Mavin Records – from scratch and turned it into the hottest label in Nigeria today with some of the most promising acts under his tutelage, and Don Jazzy (the producer) has blessed us with some of the most memorable and meaningful songs currently on our playlists and airwaves. A quick look at the “Discover” section on MyNotJustOk.com shows how much dominance the Mavins are currently enjoying with 3 of the 4 MOST DOWNLOADED songs coming from their camp.
With all these obvious facts in mind, it goes without saying that Don Jazzy is THE Hottest Producer In Nigeria for the year 2014.
